Students study how the food industry can market products to consumers and also learn about the issues that the food industry can cause in our environment. They learn how to budget a healthy meal on a limited budget as this is one of the major factors limiting our access to healthy food.

Unit 4: The Power of Food


Students study how food can help to fulfill some of our human needs and understand that it can provide us with social, emotional, and cultural experiences. They learn how food and the food industry is linked to issues both locally and globally.

Unit 5: Nova Scotia Food Industry


Students will study the importance of local food production, and the benefits to the community, economy, environment, and consumer health.
